The Pinn Medical Centre has issued the following update about their services. “Due to the extremely high surge in COVID-19 cases, NHS England have advised that all non-essential work to be stopped to allow General Practices to cope with the overwhelming demand relating to COVID-19. This means that we are open for any acute deterioration in long term conditions and any new symptoms indicating potentially serious disease. This will be until further notice. Thanks”

Honour for Sheila Cole Sheila Cole, a long-standing Board Member of the Pinn Medical Centre Patients’ Association, has been awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the New Year Honours list that has just been announced. The citation is – “For services to the community in Pinner”.  Sheila was a founder Member of Pinn Patients’ Association in 2001. She started by helping the surgery as a volunteer driver, and in 2009 she began co-ordinating the transport for all those unable to get to hospital or surgery appointments, shopping and visiting. For 15 years she also organised the distribution of the Pinn Piper.  Many congratulations, Sheila, and thanks for all your work.

Important COVID-19 Vaccination Programme update  The Vaccination Programme will NOT be administered at the Pinn Medical Centre.  The vaccination that is being used throughout Harrow is the one developed by Pfizer. This requires TWO injections at least three weeks apart.  The must vulnerable patients will be vaccinated first following their seniority. Hence 90-year-olds have begun to receive their appointments first and this will scroll to those 80-years-of-age and then 70-year-olds and so on.  THE PINN MEDICAL CENTRE WILL NOTIFY THOSE PATIENTS BY TELEPHONE.  Every effort is being made to get through the Programme as quickly as possible. The following comments and questions were raised as part of the online AGM process and are now presented here with the responses from the Pinn Medical Centre. Fully accepting the difficulties involved, is the PMCPA pushing the PMC to resume face to face appointments without mandatory telephone discussions with a GP first. The procedure is fine in some, or even many, cases but there are others where it is simply not possible to assess a situation over the phone so a face to face should be automatic, even if the doctor and patient have to sit 8 or 10 feet apart.
